What is PTE?

 
  • PTE stands for Pearson’s test of English.
  • It is a test to assess the test taker’s English language ability and is accepted by universities primarily in Australia. However, the test in being increasingly accepted by universities in New Zealand, UK and USA too.
  • PTE is a computer based exam and is remotely administered by Pearson Education at selected test centre.
  • Results are out in five business days after the test date.
  • The exam has 4 modules: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • Candidates receive a band score ranging between 10 to 90 for both individual modules and an overall band score.
  • Minimum score requirements vary depending on country, degree level, university and the subject. As a guide, you need an overall score of at least 58, with a minimum of 50 in each individual band in order to meet English language ability criterion.
